My Daughter Sophia – A Real Life Testimony

My family including my wife, my son and daughter and I went upstate to a wedding.  It was a fun wedding with family and new family dancing and carrying on like we didn’t have a care in the world.  Just celebrating two people that chose each other to love all the rest of their days.

My Daughter Sophia

My wife comes over to me and lets me know that my daughter Sophia was having trouble making a friend.  Apparently, my 3 years old daughter wanted to play with a girl who looked about 8 years old.  She went over to talk to her, but could not get out the words, so she ended up just staring at the young girl.  The young girl didn’t know what to do, so she just left.

After hearing this, I went over to my daughter and asked her what happened.  She said she thought the girl wouldn’t like her.  I asked, “Why would you think that?”.  Sophia did not have an answer.  I asked her if she still wanted to talk to the young girl and she said yes.  I looked my daughter in the eye and told her all she needed to do was walk up and say hello, my name is Sophia.  I would be right there with her.  We walked up, she took the lead walking boldly dragging me along and then… just… stood there.  So, I told the young girl “This is Sophia, would you like to play?”.  The young girl reached out both her hands and Sophia took them and they started dancing.

I walked off to let kids be kids.  After a while, a third young girl joined them and they ended up having a girls party for the rest of the night.

My Neighbor Events

My Neighbor Events is a place for kids to make those first introductions.

If you know a child between the ages of 6 and 12 years of age who wants to come and be friends with other kids his/her age, then come out this Saturday 2/29 at 2pm to Cunningham Park in Queens NY.  We will have a great time at the park learning about nature photography and hopefully creating the relationships between kids that mean so much to us.https://www.facebook.com/pg/MyNeighborEvents/events/?ref=page_internal
